Digital pond sketch

Practicing making different grass brushes, using blend modes and adjustments in Affinity Photo. I am quite pleased with the way the water has turned out (no photos or references used for this).

Making brushes is a bit tricky and I haven't yet worked out why the brushes from images will not paint with colour but seem to keep the colour of the image it was made from? I'm doing something wrong:(
